Shané (pronounced "Sha-nay") was born and raised in Hawaii, Shané was brought up surrounded by a popular culture of invisibility.
The idea that children should be seen and not heard was adhered to. With a drunk father and Christian mother, maintaining the image of the family was above all else. When an older brother's life was taken in a drunk driving incident, Shané sought comfort in art.
This was seen as trash and a waste of time. Many years later, moving far from the family, Shané was able to seek peace in art once again. The collection contains a wide variety of emotions, from a troubled childhood to joy in a new life.
